Is AI Turning Every Ad Script into Word Salad?

A human take on the machine-made marketing era -
and why your brand voice still matters.

By Sandra Law

Somewhere, right now, a business owner is typing “get low-cost leads fast” into a Large Language Model. They lean back, smugly sipping their flat white, and wait for the machine to spit out marketing gold.

What they get instead is a tepid bowl of word salad – limp lettuce, corporate croutons, and a light drizzle of buzzword dressing. Seems easy? Too easy. And here’s the thing: what if your competitors are typing in the same prompts? Or worse, what if your own team is doing it? The horror! An entire industry spoon-feeding itself from the same bland buffet.

I’ve seen the look on the faces of the old guard, the creatives, the misfits, the ad whisperers who once knew how to make people feel something. They’re staring down this wave of AI copy as if it’s a grey tsunami made entirely of clichés. “Disruption.” “Engagement.” “Synergy.” The machines don’t just steal our jobs, they steal our adjectives.

Let’s be clear: great advertising is not a spreadsheet, nor is it a paragraph written by an algorithm that’s been trained on millions of other mediocre ads. Great advertising is human. It’s that unquantifiable blend of intuition, experience, and a slightly unhinged belief that your brand deserves to stand for something more than “fast, affordable, effective.”

At Gamechanger Media, we’ve seen this before, the fads, the hacks, the “growth frameworks.” We’ve built brands that last precisely because we don’t take shortcuts. We know the difference between creative that cuts through, and creative that dissolves into wallpaper.

So before you ask ChatGPT (or whatever acronym you’ve befriended) to “write me a radio ad for plumbers,” pause. Ask yourself: Do I want my brand to sound like everyone else’s? Or do I want to sound unmistakably mine? If it’s the latter – call us. We’ll help you find your voice again. The real one. The one no algorithm could ever imitate.
